COVID-19 POLICY - UPDATED 9/1

On June 30, 2021, all of Washington moved from Phase 3 to a statewide reopening.   For more information, see the original announcement

As part of this move, the guidelines for sporting activities were archived and are no longer considered a requirement. 

The facial coverings mandate was also modified and an exception was added for any outdoor activities.  

Items to note:

  • People are NOT required to wear facial coverings while outdoors.
  • People are NOT required to wear facial coverings while engaged in outdoor training or competition in any sport.
  • It is recommended that everyone wear masks to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

SUMMARY

  • Soccer coaches, players, and officials are allowed to remove facial coverings for competitions.
  • Physical distance of 6 feet should be maintained between staff, coaches, volunteers, and any spectators at all times with exceptions for training, competition, and medical personnel performing their medical duties.
  • Outdoor training and practices: No more than 150 people allowed per field or area of play, including spectators.
  • Outdoor competitions and games: No more than 150 people allowed per field or area of play, including spectators.

COACH RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No coach that is sick or has signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 should attend.
  • Use hand sanitizer before and after interacting with your team.
  • Clustering of players should be avoided. There should be no gathering and socializing before or after the game or practice by players unless physical distancing requirements can be met.
  • Coaches should not assemble their teams closely together for instruction.
  • Keep a roster of every athlete and volunteer present at each practice and game to assist with contact tracing in the event of possible exposure. 
  • Game and practice attendance rosters must be kept for 28 days for contact tracing purposes.

GAMES

  • No handshakes or fist bumps during or after the game.
  • Read player names and numbers off the roster for game check-in to the referee.
  • No closed tents. If benches are used on the sideline.

PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No player that is sick or has signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 should attend.
  • Use hand sanitizer before and after the game.
  • Clustering of players should be avoided.
  • No handshakes or fist bumps during or after the game.

PARENT/GUARDIAN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • No parent/guardian/caregiver or player that is sick or has signs or symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 are permitted to attend practices or games while symptomatic or within a quarantine period.
  • Drop players off no earlier than 15 minutes prior to practice or 30 minutes prior to kick off on game days.
  • Do not loiter around the fields.

CASE OF INFECTION

IF A PLAYER OR PLAYERS FAMILY MEMBER IS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19: 

  • Have the player stay home.
  • Contact the Spokane Rapids office and/or your coach immediately.
  • If the infected player was in contact with their team or an opposing team within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms or within 48 hours of when the diagnostic test was performed (whichever was earlier), the player's parent/guardian must immediately notify the coach and/or the Spokane Rapids office.
  • If the infected player was in contact with their team or an opposing team within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms or within 48 hours of when the diagnostic test was performed (whichever was earlier), the coach(es), team volunteer(s), and players will be contacted and are expected to quarantine for 10 days or provide written medical clearance from their physician after their 10-day quarantine.
  • The team coach(es) will be expected to cancel practice and Spokane Rapids will reschedule any impacted games.
  • The infected player cannot return to practice or games until they have written medical clearance from their physician.
  • Spokane Regional Health District will be notified of a positive case for contact tracing purposes.

IF A COACH OR TEAM VOLUNTEER COMES IN CONTACT WITH OR IS DIAGNOSED WITH COVID-19:

  • Get tested and stay home.
  • Contact the Spokane Rapids office immediately.
  • If the infected person was in contact with their team or an opposing team within 48 hours of the onset of symptoms or within 48 hours of when the diagnostic test was performed (whichever was earlier), the coach(es), team volunteer(s), and players will be contacted and are expected to quarantine for 10 days or provide written medical clearance from their physician after their 10-day quarantine.
  • The team coach(es) will be expected to cancel practice and Spokane Rapids will reschedule any impacted games.
  • The infected coach or team volunteer cannot return to practice or games until they have written medical clearance from their physician.
  • Spokane Regional Health District will be notified of a positive case for contact tracing purposes.

When the Spokane Rapids office is notified of contact or diagnosis of a COVID-19 infection the team will be notified that “someone” on the team has tested positive for the virus (the name of the individual will not be revealed).  If the infected person was in contact with an opposing team within the 48-hour timeframe that team will be notified as well.  It is recommended each of these players should also be tested for COVID-19.
